This only occurs when the Star-Lites are positioned facing out from the Tree. If you place them face up the rays will not melt. A better solution is to replace the hot bulbs with LED bulbs in which case you can place them anyway you want without fear of melting rays (I have done this with my keeper sets). There are many suitable C6 LED bulbs to do the trick. Not so with this set.
I have dated the set to 1940 but there is information which suggests they first appeared in 1938 or 1939 and this set is likely from those years. They were made through 1942. In any event they appeared well before the US entry into WWII.Of the Stars with white centers two have red rays, two have green rays and one has blue rays. This is the last one I have for sale. Your good feedback is important to all sellers and your satisfaction is important to me so if there is a problem, please contact me.
