This authentic, vintage Maruni multi-compartment lacquerware box features Maruni's famous patented metal base. Unlike traditional wooden lacquer pieces, this innovative steel-core design gives the box a substantial, premium weight and prevents the lacquer from warping, splitting, or cracking over time. The bottom of the box features the original, crisp white maker's stamp reading: Made by Hand in Occupied Japan - Maruni - Patented Lacquerware Metal Base.

Design & Craftsmanship:Exterior: Finished in a rich, warm cinnabar/red-brown tone. It is adorned with gorgeous, hand-painted floral and botanical accents in gold, cream, orange, and soft blue.

Interior: Features its rare, 100% complete original modular organization system. Includes a custom removable diving tier and separate cream-colored tray inserts.
