RARE-Vintage mid-century modern Lucite and metal lidded box featuring a rare curved "barrel-top" magnifying lid. The thick clear Lucite lid creates an optical effect, enlarging objects placed inside while reflecting and refracting surrounding light and color. The base is constructed of brushed gold-tone metal with a warm metallic interior, designed to enhance the visual effect.

This sculptural combination of Lucite and metal was popular in executive desk accessories and modern interiors during the 1960s-1970s, and examples with a curved optical lid are far less common than flat-top versions. Unmarked, which is typical for many quality vintage Lucite pieces of the era. Materials: Lucite / acrylic lid; gold-tone metal base. Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. Lucite lid shows light surface wear and minor internal stress lines/crazing, visible mainly at certain angles and consistent with vintage acrylic. No cracks, chips, or structural damage. Lid fits properly and displays well. The base appears to be a non-magnetic metal (likely aluminum) with a gold-tone finish. Please review all photos carefully, as they are part of the description.
