The loco tries to run; but, will only start to move in Forward only, every 4. I was able to partially remove the shell enough to manually move the E-Unit 1 cycle and then touch power leads directly to the rail contacts. It ran; but, by the time I put it back together, it would not run. Id say it is an E-Unit problem. My trifocals and arthritis wont allow further investigation.
The engine shows a few minor scratches, smoke stack needs cleaning (I did not test it), and right rear cab roof has a slight downward bend to it. #6466W Lionel Lines whistle tender has a metal chassis (including trucks, wheels, & couplers) and plastic shell. It took several tries; but, the whistle finally sounded and it sounded pretty good. It has nice lettering and almost no scratches. I see some rust on the drawbar coupler. #6462 black New York Central gondola with 6 wooden barrels (which the 1950 set version did not have) has a metal chassis, etc. There are very minor rust spots underneath. #6456 RED Lehigh Valley Hopper #25000 has a plastic shell with metal trucks, wheels, couplers, steps, brake wheel, and a metal truck mounting plate to attach to the shell. There are very minor scratches and rust spots on the bottom of the trucks. #6465 variation B silver double dome SUNOCO tank car has a metal chassis, etc. #6257 Type 1, variation B (with staple end trucks) SP red caboose has a metal chassis, etc. Railing and brake wheel with a plastic shell. There are very minor scratches and rust spots on the metal parts. Magnetic coupler works; but, it does not Pop-Open.It will lock closed and open with movement. #1033 90 Watt transformer with whistle and direction controls.
It has the original cord in flexible condition. It is in EX condition with only some pieces broken off on the end of the black plastic control knob (does not affect operation). Whistle and direction controls work fine. The following is a comparison of the LSM voltage output ratings vs.Track 8 #1013 curves and 3 # 1018 straights with black ties show age darkening with all connector pins accounted for. I did not notice any rust. #6019 Remote Control Track Set variation B with the original instruction sheet. Controller cable has been cut so that additional wiring could be added (needs spliced together). Track section shows a few scratches and rust spots.
CTC Track Lockon looks almost new. Smoke pellet bottle is a little over half full, most are complete pills.
Instruction booklet may or may not be original to the set. It is titled INSTRUCTIONS for Assembling and Operating LIONEL TRAINS copyrighted 1950, has 64 pages, measures 8 7/16 x 5 ½, cover shows a father & son on their knees playing (see main PIC). It is in EX condition with a few minor corner folds.
BOXES are Fair Good (P4-5). 1469WS set box has all sides; but, 1 side especially has deteriorated badly (see PIC). No sign of moisture damage; but it does show a bit of mildew spotting. It will not store the set without some help. 2035 loco box has an EX inner protective cardboard casing/sleeve. Main box has 4 Good sides.Only 1 side end flap is attached. Two name end flaps are present but torn off. 6466W tender box has an EX inner protective cardboard casing/sleeve. All 4 long sides are Good with 1 taped edge.

Other end is missing all but 1 side end flap. 6257 Caboose box is missing all but 1 name end flap.1033 Transformer box is complete with minor damage. It is dirty with mildew spots. There are some cardboard pieces that may or may not be torn off box pieces.
This set came from a private individual who ran it up into his teens. It has been in storage for 20-30 years. It will need some TLC; but, shows great promise, except for the boxes. Because of the size of this package 19-20 lbs. Please be specific about what you want to see.
