


Handmade silver hairpin/ jewelry hair adornment that also has an opium box function. This treasure of handmade silver is a fascinating collectible in ethnographic jewelry; made by the Hmong people, piece has 4 hollow sides tapering to a point. The object had dual use as opium storage box and hair adornment. The stick is fine silver, decorated with floral filagree, patterned bands, and a spirit-lock or wishbone motif.
Lid is attached by silver chain. Likely collected Northen Burma/Mayanmar, 1950's- provenance available upon request.
