I had gone to college in Madison, Wisconsin where Steven Spiro was creating wood pieces starting in the 1970s, I believe. At this time, his box style seemed to use pegs a lot, in the lids. Spiro didn't sign all of his pieces when I was there.
But he gave me his card and wrote the kinds of wood he used on the larger piece, on the back of the card. I've shown a photo of it here. The smaller box is zebra wood. Larger Box: approximately 5 1/2" long, 4" deep, 3 1/2 high. Smaller zebra box: approximately 3 1/2" long, 2 3/4" high, 2 7/8 deep.
Spiro doesn't design furniture anymore, so these small vintage pieces are rare. The larger piece has a tiny chip on the edge, which I show. I also show the boxes in 2 different lighting conditions.
